Lata Setty is a pioneering investor and legal expert dedicated to transforming the venture capital industry and promoting corporate diversity. As the Founding Investor of The How Women Invest Fund, Lata disrupts the VC landscape by mobilizing first-time investors to support female-founded and female-led companies. Her work empowers underrepresented female and women of color (WoC) founders with vital financial and social capital, aiming to correct the disparity where less than 2% of venture funding goes to female-founded companies and only 0.05% to WoC founders.
Since February 2020, Lata has been instrumental in The How Women Invest Funds I & II, leveraging her experience in launching and scaling successful VC-funded startups. Her mission is to democratize venture capital by mobilizing 10,000 female investors by 2025 to support female-founded startups.
Lata also served as Chair of the Minority In-House Counsel Association (MIHCA) from July 2018 to November 2023, advocating for the professional development of diverse in-house counsel. Her career includes roles as Chief Intellectual Property Officer at UnitedLex and a founding team member at Pangea3, contributing to significant industry advancements.
Lata Setty's efforts are driving a more equitable and innovative business landscape, fostering diversity, and inclusion in both venture capital and corporate law.
