Biography
I am a Fellow of Pakistan Physician and Surgeons (F.C.P.S) and has Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training UK in General Adult Psychiatry. Formerly worked as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry in Fatima Jinnah Medical College Lahore, Pakistan. Studied Fundamentals of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy from the University of Cumbria, UK. Extensive clinical experience in General Adult Psychiatry, Liaison Psychiatry, Psychiatry of Learning Disabilities and Forensic Psychiatry, Perinatal Psychiatry, as well as teaching and research experience.Numerous research articles published in peer reviewed journals including collaborations with Harvard Medical School, USA.
Has chapter contribution titled “Therapeutic communities for psychosis: philosophy, history and clinical practice” towards a book published in the UK.
In addition to my work in the National Health Service as a Consultant Psychiatrist, I continuously and dedicatedly carried on my clinical work and simultaneously my voluntary work in mental health awareness throughout my career.I was committed to the general public during the challenging times of global pandemic(Covid-19).
I kept on helping all sections of public, especially the Asian Community, who are predisposed to suffer symptoms of Corvid- 19. I am a strong advocate for mental health awareness. I decided to do great deal of community service, having quickly appreciating the speed of spread of this deadly virus. In my individual capacity and member of medical fraternity, I disseminated health awareness messages by producing videos, contributing articles in print and electronic media, and working with different TV channels.
My work was also shared by the NHS Trust. These videos were not only in English, but in other languages as well, such as Urdu. The language was simple, but effective, persuasive and delivery style very appealing. My work was shared across multiple social media and other channels to create awareness related to stress, mental health, coronavirus, Covid-19 vaccine. MythBusters and to encourage vaccine uptake. I received acknowledgement for my work from the Mayor of London for reaching out to the diverse communities in 2020 and 2021.
The Pakistan High Commission, London prominently shared my work on their website and media handles. I proved myself an Ambassador to public with great loyalty to the cause by removing fears, phobias, superstitions about Covid-19 vaccination.
